Public Defender of Rights (ombudsman) initiates the proceedings with the public institution which did not provide the requested information. The public institution reimburses the costs of ombudsman’s intervention his costs caused by violation of duties of the public institution.
If the supervising institution, for example, the ombudsman, could check whether and how public institutions fulfil the obligation to make information about their activities available to the public, the discipline of public institutions in this respect could be enhanced and the amount of obstructions from their side in delivering the requested information could be reduced.
